Iran Claims Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
