Ange Postecoglou stayed resolute as Nottingham Forest fans called for his sacking after barely three weeks in control

A costly 3-2 Europa League loss to Midtjylland means the manager without a victory in his first six games in charge of Forest

He is now the first full-time manager of Nottingham Forest in a century to fail to win in any of his initial six matches

The club invested approximately 180 million pounds in the summer, looking to build on last season's achievements, but Nuno was sacked last month after his relationship with Marinakis worsened

The Australian replaced him on 9 September, but Forest have been unable to maintain the prior season's momentum and struggled against their visitors from the Danish Superliga

The Australian head coach believes his squad are still near a breakthrough

"Yes I do, little I observed tonight alters any of that," he commented. "I understand the feeling around the place isn't going to be positive, and I understand people's attitude at the moment, especially directed at me, but it's not unfamiliar territory for me

"I believe we are on the correct path and when we get through this phase of uncertainty we are in, we will be on a positive trajectory"

Forest drew 2-2 at the Spanish club last week and travel to Newcastle in the league on Sunday before the pause for national teams

Postecoglou stated: "It's a really poor result from us. It was an significant evening for several factors and [a] familiar story, us failing to perform in crucial instances and facing an uphill battle

"If you allow the chance to find the net each time they get near your net, it's going to be hard to secure victories of football"

Is the manager be given time?

It is known that the owner is willing to make quick changes if he believes things are not working

At his other club, he sacked former Huddersfield coach Carlos Corberan after only less than two months as manager, while Nuno's exit came a short time after he signed a new three-year contract

Now the focus falls on the current boss

"I believe he will receive more patience because he was appointed by the chairman," former Forest and London club forward a pundit said on a sports network

"The owner will allow him additional leeway to implement his ideas in place, because at present it seems he is struggling to convey his strategies over to the players"

Ex-player and Foxes manager Martin O'Neill noted: "Wins are the key objective - it is as simple as that

"The crowd were already opposed to him in several ways, but we are a handful of matches in, you'd hardly know the name of the tea lady after that amount of duration"

On the boos, O'Neill added: "You have to deal with all the noise around you. You must not let it dictate all aspects, but you can't avoid it"
