Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.
The team did not mention Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Instagram
The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable
No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
On the field, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
