The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any given Sunday' mantra that draws so many people into the NFL
That result could have created opportunities for the Patriots to creep back into a leading position they formerly held, with a schedule that gives them an edge over their eight and two competitors
Meanwhile in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had ideal outcomes to set up a monster clash next week, while our top performer is pursuing milestones as well as the Most Valuable Player award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?
Was it just an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Buffalo team to answer
The Bills had secured seven victories in a row against the Dolphins but were outperformed from the start as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 victors in an surprising outcome - and performance
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the squad's opening first down in the third period and initial scoring in the fourth - yes Miami had ten days to get ready but it was nonetheless a significant failure laid by one of the league's top offences
Tua Tagovailoa passed for two scores but rusher Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 total yards and two scores
Containing the league's best running game was also key, with Cook and company recording just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the season and just over half their 161.5 yard average
Then there were the three critical ball losses, and the two from Allen in particular. An interception in the end zone meaning a nine minute drive yielded no points, and his final quarter fumble that Miami turned into seven points just two plays
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a hole on defense and Allen trying to do too much to dig his team from the situation - not the calm, controlled, balanced Buffalo team we've seen this season
Miami have served up a varied performances this season so the verdict is uncertain on if this is the start of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll require an instant response in a tough game against Tampa Bay next week as the New England are quietly moving into a nice lead at the summit of the AFC East
Spotlight - Patriots See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the New England, they're among three 8-2 teams in the league, all AFC teams, but could they be the best?
One could find flaws in New England, Denver and the Colts actually for dominating the lesser sides, with only five of their total 24 victories achieved against opponents with a positive record - and one example was the Colts defeating the Denver
The Broncos defeated the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indy can rely on Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's win in Tampa Bay to their prime time success in Orchard Park appears to be a statement
Their two defeats occurred in new head coach Mike Vrabel's first three contests, with seven consecutive wins, similar to the Broncos, from that point - but taking down Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to prepare was huge
Drake Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he certainly deserves point for courage after taking some hard tackles in Tampa but persevering to steer his team to success
The defense is reliable and first-year running back Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 yards and two exciting touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth runner to break 22 miles per hour this season on his first score
While you can argue who 'the best' is technically, the Patriots should be favorites to finish with the best record thanks to their schedule - which features just one game against a successful opponent, albeit a significant contest against the Bills
Traveling to the Ravens is also tough, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West division with the Kansas City to face two times, the Chargers (who might also compete for first place but face the same problem) and additionally the Green Bay on the schedule
The Indianapolis also face the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two matchups with the 5-4 Jacksonville to face. There's a considerable distance to go but the opportunity is open for a shock number one position in the American Football Conference
Coming Up - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Week 11 Clash
Both squads with strong arguments to be superior to all of the three eight and two teams are NFC West rivals the Seattle and Los Angeles, who each put up forty points to go to seven and two ahead of next week's major meeting between the two in LA
They've both won four in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Darnold performing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had ball security problems on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units giving up under 20 points a game
Each could easily be without a loss as too - particularly the Los Angeles as their two defeats came in overtime against the 49ers and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a game-winning field goal with the final play blocked and returned by the Philadelphia for a touchdown
The Seahawks were also defeated to San Francisco, with a late touchdown in week one, before losing to the last kick of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they're truly two of the best sides in the league
The next matchup on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season to date
Top Performer - Jonathan Taylor
Taylor might be on for a historic year after his incredible display in Berlin - rushing for 244 rushing yards, registering three scores and contributing another forty-two {receiving yards
