AC Shadows Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a bizarre partnership that breaks conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Revealed
According to the formal announcement, "A strange meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where rumors of forbidden practices and monstrous transformations reverberate through the darkness." The storyline presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret sect.
The mission focuses on "strange experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The teaser showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Extra Features
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an exclusive katana alongside several artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe

Latest Free Story Content
This patch also introduces the game's latest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
