Earth might be under strain, however there is hope. A novel accolade originating at the science, music and arts festival Starmus will encourage individuals to make a difference.

The medal is to be awarded in memory of the celebrated British primatologist who passed away recently. It seeks to acknowledge those who protect life on Earth.

The Medal's Framework

The inaugural winners will be revealed at the upcoming Starmus event in Tenerife and La Palma, which will run from October 17th to 22nd next year.

According to statements that Jane Goodall, a former member of the festival's board, had supported the medal's establishment. “The idea behind this award, and Starmus being entrusted to oversee it, was Jane's wish,” a statement said. “She expressed she would like for this to occur.
